На свою голову решул утром полечить винчестер на серваке. Были сообщения типа:
Mar 5 15:31:46 n2gate smartd[2313]: Device: /dev/sda, 4294967295 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors
Mar 5 15:31:46 n2gate smartd[2313]: Device: /dev/sda, 4294967295 Offline uncorrectable sectors
добром это не кончилось, после запуска fsck отмонтировалась нулевая vol group, сервак ещё отвечал на пинг, но по ssh и web уже нет. через полчасика не дождавшись каких либо результатов его грузанули по питанию.
Сейчас его тестируем gpart - выдаёт :

Возможно ли каким то образом спасти данные? Нагуглил некий Partition Table disk doctor , однако его поиск разделов так же не нашёл =\
